Greeting Families!
From Our Dean of Students

Hello Families!

I hope that you are enjoying the weekend and that you are feeling settled in to the start of Work Journal #2! The year is flying by, and I can't believe it's already October!

October can be an interesting time in the world of education. The beginning-of-the-year energy and excitement may be slowing, and the feeling of "the grind" may be kicking in. We call this transition "the move from Forming to Storming." The good news is that Norming is on the horizon - that feeling after the storm that can feel like a nice groove or flow in your work. The other good news is that we can move through any of these spaces of being at any time. We can go from Storming to Norming and back in one day alone! Everything is temporary, and this, too, shall pass. :)

So if you are feeling stormy these days, know that you are not alone! If you are feeling good, spread the love! Continue to share what is working for you and what is feeling "just right!"

Speaking of sharing, I promised many of you that I would share the video from our work journal jam that demonstrates how you might brainstorm a home school plan! Here ya go :)

Enjoy Your Weekend!

Picture Days
Wednesday-Friday, Oct 24-26
Our photographer, Stacee Lianna, will be on campus to take school and class photos of our students! Students will take photos with their classmates at a designated time during their school day. Students do NOT need to wear a collared shirt for their photo (although their attire MUST be school appropriate), but they must be able to change into DV Connect dress code after their photo is taken.
DV Connect Cares!
Keep an eye out for more information about our Kindness Movement, a collaborative effort between our FAN families, Connect Cares and our counselor, Kene! We also have a few more opportunities coming up for this month! We will be walking at the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk on Sunday, October 28 starting at 9:00 am at the Manhattan Beach Pier which helps to benefit our friends with special needs! There will be pumpkin races following the walk.
Also, on Monday, October 29, please join us at 4:00 pm in your costumes at the Anderson Park Senior Center, where we will be hanging out with the seniors there. There will be a picnic gathering and play in the park after. Wishing you all a very happy and safe Halloween!
