Updates From Your Principal

NicoleAssisi Hello Da Vinci Families,

We hope you have enjoyed a great week back to school! We have been having a blast on campus! Core 1 is exploring how to be an expert and among other things, how to train like an astronaut. Core 2 is working on motion, toys and carnivals. In Core 3, students are learing about who has the right over California and discovering the Bill of Rights. Core 4 and 5 are both exploring foreign lands, as well as botany and landmasses. This will surely be a great semester and remember that you can see these and other projects during Exhibition on March 19th and/or 21st.

However, we hope you won't wait that long to come to campus. Please join us on January 23rd for our Family Jubilee. Here is a link to sign-up to bring a dish to share: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4CAFAF2DAA8-newyears.

We truly hope you can join us because there is much to celebrate. In addition to the great student work being done, we also need to celebrate our huge success with the Annual Giving Campaign. As previously mentioned in last week's email, because of your donations we were able to add art back into our days at school, were able to buy more curriculum for school and home and bought more toys and sports equipment.

If you have not yet donated, it is not yet too late and our wishlist still has outstanding items that have not been funded. Please take a minute to donate today. Remember, our goal is 100% participation!

With much gratitude,
Nicole

The Priority Application Deadline is March 1, 2013.

The STAR/CST Tests are coming soon:

The STAR/CST Writing Test for 4th and 7th grade students will take place on Tuesday, March 5th.  The state does not offer flexibility on these test dates so please mark your calendars and plan to bring your 4th and 7th grade students to school from 9:00-12:00 on March 5th, even if your normal school days are Monday/Thursday.  Thank you!

The STAR/CST Test (multiple choice) for 2nd through 8th grade students will take place during normal at-school time during the weeks of April 22-May 3.  While we do not emphasize these tests throughout the school year, it is important to our charter that students take the tests and that students arrive at school well-rested and fed.  Thank you!

8th grade Da Vinci Science and Design Visit - February 6

We invite all DVIA 8th graders to come together before the Da Vinci high school visit to participate in an 8th grade group photo.  The photo will take place at approximately 8:45am.  Exact times and location will be finalized soon.  The plan is to make this convenient with the all-8th-grade-gathering for the high school tour.
