Greetings, DVIA Families!
A Few Words from Our Principal
I hope you are enjoying this long weekend!
I want to highlight an awesome resource available to DVIA families. This past week many of you got to connect at PEC with Cecilia and Jason Hilkey,
DVIA parents and founders of Happily Family. They also released a really helpful email titled "How to Motivate Kids without Bribes and Threats." It included a link to this page
on their website featuring 3 strategies you can try today!
They also just conducted a Facebook Live called "Math without Tears" that is an abbreviated version of their PEC presentation, in case you missed it. Even if you're like me and not a Facebooker, you can watch the post through this link
. I just did!
If you aren't getting Cecilia and Jason's emails, you can sign up for the online Compassionate Communication class for free here
or you can sign up for just the weekly emails here
Please take advantage of this tremendous resource!
Hi Families! Thank you to so many of you for attending and participating thoughtfully in our Math Mash PEC 3! I was particularly moved by how open you were with your experiences in homeschooling around math and in sharing your experiences in how you see yourselves as mathematicians! The work you do to support your learners at home is admirable, and we recognize that it's no easy task!
I hope you spent the long weekend enjoying the rain and doing something that brings you and your family joy. :)
Next week and beyond is jam-packed, so please read on carefully and thoroughly!

|Did You Know...
...the Learning Goals listed on your child's work journal (AKA the Common Core State Standards) are explained on the parent educator resource website? From the homepage, choose "Learning Goals" on the top menu, then click on the area you want to better understand and select your child's level. (If you're just getting started, choose your child's grade level but go up or down from there to find where your child really is.)
Have a great week!
