Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal

Greetings Families!

I'm excited to see you at tomorrow's Talent Showcase! It's guaranteed to be a fun family evening. Be sure to read the blurb below and bring blankets to sit/lay on as well as jackets in case the evening gets chilly. This is an outdoor event!

I also want to acknowledge the awesome workshops and the enthusiasm all of you brought to last week's Parent Educator Conference. We developed PEC after so many of you requested events that allow you to "dive deep" with a theme that brings our community of parents together. We hope you enjoyed your time and learned something new from each other and from our amazing presenters.

Enjoy your week!

Hello Families!

Can't wait to see what your kiddos wear to school for Matching Multiples Day on Thursday and Friday! It's also Pizza Day!

Kudos to you and your students for a succesful first week of testing! Continue supporting them in getting enough to sleep and eat, as well as letting them know that their best work is all that metters! They have engaged in some really "brain heavy" work this week, and we appreciate their perseverance! Also, a big Thank You to our Core 1 and 2 students for providing a quiet space on campus during body breaks so that our older students can have an optimal testing environment!

We are very excited for the annual DVIA Talent Showecase on Tuesday--see you there!

Enjoy your week!

Physical Fitness Testing!
Our 5th and 7th grade students participate in the CA Physical Fitness Test each year as part of the California State Testing. Here is a link to more info from the state. (It should be noted that at DVIA, we participate in the PACER, Curl Up, Push Up, BMI, Trunk Lift, and Shoulder Stretch.)

We will be holding our Physical Fitness test the week of May 8th, from 2:00pm-3:00pm. On Monday/Tuesday, we will be participating in the PACER, and on Thursday/Friday we will complete the other exercises.

I am excited to share that Nick Parrino from Infinite Learning will be administering the test, which will be waaaay more fun than if I were to administer it. ;) Please make sure that your student has his/her water bottle and comfortable clothing during this week. Tennis shoes should be worn on Monday/Tuesday!

Reach out to me (Kaitlin) with any questions you might have. :)

What's Cookin' in the Homeschool Kitchen

Participating in LA county science fair was an amazing experience. There were 1044 kids in the fair and it was awesome meeting so many kids passionate about science. My project was how polyphenols' impact E. Coli growth. Polyphenols are found in natural products like green tea and pomegranate. I enjoyed interacting with the judges also. I was given a junior division microbiology honorable recognition award. I look forward to going again next year.
