Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for attending PEC 4 last week and for bringing such a productive, collaborative and reflective atmosphere to all of our events! We are working on a schedule to re-present a few of the workshops so that if you missed one you wanted to catch you can! Also, here is the link to the Inside Mathematics site regarding social and emotional learning that I referenced in my keynote. Additionally, here is an explanation of the social and emotional learning core competencies often called upon when kiddos are learning. It was a pleasure to share a bit of my story with you and lend insight into why social emotional learning is so crucial to what and how we teach at DVIA! Handouts from workshops will be available on the davinciK8 site soon!

I'd like to make a request regarding this week's talent show. Last year, I recall many, many students running around and playing a game of tag during student performances. I'm going to ask that parents keep their children with them and focused on the performances so that every student has an optimal audience for his/her talent. If your child needs to run off some energy, please escort him/her to the front of campus to run around in the grass area between DVIA and the district office. Thank you!

I hope you join me for a chat about our LCAP during this month's Pastries with the Principal. We will meet tomorrow and Friday from 9:15-10:15 in the Collab Lab just outside Core 1.

Lastly, I want to appreciate all of the fabulous performers during last week's enrichment play! You all worked so hard, the costumes and backdrops were amazing and best of all, it was clear kiddos were having so much fun. Congrats to all of you! Well done!

Thank you for being part of our DVIA family and enjoy your week!

From Our Dean of Students

Hello Families!

First I'd like to thank you for sharing in the happy news that my husband and I are expecting a little one in October! I am so grateful for the many congratulations, well wishes, hugs, and kind words. Thank you! I am fortunate to belong to such a beautiful community--Baby Toon is so loved already!
Also, our SBAC make up testing day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4. If you recieved an email from me, please RSVP for your student so we can meet our 95% participation rate!
Finally, we have many exciting events coming up! We can't wait to see you at the annual DVIA Talent Showcase THIS Tuesday at 5pm! This is definitely the most popular FAN event of the year :) The Core 4/5 Skate Night is THIS Friday night! This event is open to ALL of our DVIA 5th-8th graders, and this will be a great opportunity for our older students from both cohorts and the full-time independent study program to spend time together! Pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase before and after school this week :)
Looking forward to spending extra time with you and your families as we inch closer to the end of the year!

Have a great week!
