Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal
I first of all want to thank each of you for making staff appreciation week so special for all of us! We enjoyed a truly memorable, fun and delicious breakfast this morning. So many families gathered to feed us, entertain us and shower us with acknowledgements and love. Thank you for all that you do! We are honored to serve you.
A special thank you as well to all of our parents, staff and community members who made our Parent Educator Conference a success. Thank you for so generously giving your time to support our community! A huge shout out to Kaitlin for organizing the entire event! It was a labor of love!!!
Students and families in our Collaborative Program enjoyed an amazing Exhibition this evening filled with dynamic homeschool projects. Nice work everyone! Your children were confident, engaged and owned their learning.
Lastly, I ask that you please take 10 minutes to fill out this final survey of the 2017-2018 school year. Your insight is invaluable and we aim for a 100% participation rate! Please take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M89GP7J
Thank you! I'm off to Wishtoyo and look forward to sharing memories with you next week.
From Our Dean of Students
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We feel SO loved by all of you, and we want you to know how much we appreciate YOU as parent educators! You go above and beyond to support your children :)
I hope that everyone who was able to attend our Parent Educator Conferences this week walked away with a nugget or two--I know I sure did! I shared this on Tuesday, but I'll share again that we've been offering these conferences and talking about these topics for years, and this was the first year I was rapidly taking notes like I've never heard any of it before, because I'm finally able to apply it as a mom! Even though I've heard it all a million times, and have even shared it with you, I forget about the research, the tools, advice, and inspiration when I'm in the middle of supporting Lylah through one of her (very theatrical) toddler tantrums ;) This week was such a great opportunity to be reminded of what I already know and to learn to ideas to add to my tool belt. Thank you for letting me learn (and re-learn) right along with you, and a huge THANK YOU to all of our presenters, many of whom are DVIA parents! We couldn't offer these types of events without you.
Enjoy Your Week, and Happy Mother's Day weekend!

We are excited to announce DVIA's Summer Camp and hope your child(ren) will join us! Keep the learning and fun going even after school is out. We've created 8 different themes--a little something for everyone! A special note about the musical theater camp in July: the final performance will be on the morning of August 1st and students in both camps will perform for their own families, any other DVIA friends and families who want to attend, and it will be a "welcome back" performance for the staff, who will begin their professional development for the 2018-2019 school year that day! So much fun! Also, to make the registration process easy and convenient, we've created an Eventbrite for online sign up and payment! Thanks for joining us!
8th Grade Graduation!
What's Cookin' in the Homeschool Kitchen
The Ballard kids, three of whom are in our Collaborative program, have started a YouTube channel
to show that media can be used for positive things and to try to inspire other kids to use media outlets for good! They will be sharing community service projects they do, hiking adventures, and other fun learning opportunities. Their goal is to inspire people to enjoy the world around them and make a difference in the lives of others. Be sure to share this with your kids and subscribe!
