Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal

Greetings Families!

Thanks for helping us get off to a strong start! I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know your children and you. I appreciate the time that many of you spent chatting with me at Popcorn with the Principal this week. Looking forward to seeing you at my next gathering.

Laughing is truly one of my favorite things to do, so I'm going to the Comedy and Magic Club, are you? Hope to see you there! Read below for more info.

We are excited about the roll out of our enrichment program next week. Here are some answers to things you might be wondering:
  • If your child is signed up for Afternoon Enrichment Club, please be sure to pack an extra snack to help them last all the way until 4:30. Students will gather on the grass at 3:15 and on Mondays and Thursdays, Jennifer Francy (core 2 Hybrid teacher) will greet them and take them to our Innovation Station (art/makerspace classroom) and on Tuesdays and Fridays, Darlene (core 4 Hybrid teacher) will do the same. We will walk them outside for pickup at 4:30.
  • On Wednesdays, drop off and pick up as well as lunchtime will be very similar to any other day. DVIA staff will be out front greeting students at 9:00. We are asking all students to meet on the grass for the first few weeks until kiddos know where their classes are. We know that navigating to different classrooms feels really big for our younger and newer kiddos!
  • At 2:35, students will be released to leave for the day and DVIA staff will help kiddos get safely into cars and parents' arms out front. You are welcome to park and walk or drive through our pickup line.
  • If your child is arriving or leaving at a time other than 9:15 or 2:35, please enter through the front office.
  • During lunchtime, students will be encouraged to eat and then play. DVIA staff will supervise playtime similar to a typical at-school day.
  • We know that a few new student enrichment requests have come through and we are processing them as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience!
  • Don't forget to pack your child with snacks, a lunch and water bottle just like any other day at DVIA.
  • DVIA dress code is required ANY time a student is on campus, even during enrichment. Our dress code helps us promote a culture where students are known and valued for who they are, not for what they wear. Thank you for considering that each time you remind your kiddo to wear a polo (or DVIA tshirt), put on safe, close-toed shoes and adhere to other aspects of the dress code (see handbook for more information).
I hope you have an excellent weekend!

From Our Dean of Students

What a fantastic first week back on campus! I loved spending time in each classroom watching your kiddos settle in to routines, meet new friends, and connect with their teachers! I also loved seeing so many collaborative families on campus checking in with their teachers and making those first exciting plans for the year!

We had an awesome time watching the solar eclipse on Monday (see the adorable photos below!) and loved experiencing this rare event with some of our students! If you have a pair of eclipse viewing glasses laying around and don't know what to do with them, check out this article on why you might want to save them (eclipse 2024, anyone?!) or how you can donate them. :)

Also, a HUGE shout out goes to FAN parent, Ambur Gorman, for organizing and hosting our first Book Fair with Barefoot books! Hopefully you were able to stop in and grab one (or more!) of the beautiful selection of books that promotes diversity, inclusion, and a love of reading! Also, thank you to all of our FAN families who attended Wednesday morning's meeting! We are excited for the year ahead and can't wait to connect at the next FAN sponsored event!

We know that your kiddos enjoy being on campus in the afternoon to connect with friends and that this is a great time for you to connect as parents. During these times, please make sure that you are supervising your kiddo(s) at all times and that you support them in cleaning up any toys/materials once they're done playing. When toys are left out of place, we must spend our morning cleaning campus rather than prepping for kiddos. We'd much rather spend our morning getting ready for you and your littles!
What You Need to Know This Week

PEC Make Up Meetings
Did you know that PEC 1 counted as the first mandatory work journal meeting for Hybrid families? If you are a Hybrid family and missed PEC 1, please make sure you are connecting with your classroom teacher to attend a make up meeting! More info about mandatory meetings can be found in our DVIA Family Handbook!

Please Adhere to Handicapped Parking Limitations
We have a number of families who have handicapped placards and rely on those spaces to safely navigate campus. Please observe all signage and avoid parking in spaces that are reserved for others. Thank you!
