Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal
I enjoyed meeting with so many of you during "Pastries with the Principal" last week! Thank you for your time (and for your patience with our limited meeting space!). These meetings are a great opportunity to connect with other DVIA families, ask questions and share ideas. See you next month at Popcorn with the Principal (check davincik8.org calendar)!
This week, many of our 5th and 6th graders are heading to AstroCamp! We hope they have a great time. I'm looking forward to joining our 7th and 8th graders next week at Catalina Camp! I want to give a huge shout out and thank you to Kaitlin, who has spent countless hours arranging for these trips!
Lastly, I want to direct your attention to the "What's Cookin' in the Homeschool Kitchen" of the newsletter, below. We would love to feature more of your kiddos and their great learning at home!
Have a great week!
From Our Dean of Students
I had such a great time attending the Comedy and Magic Club on Wednesday! Thanks for sharing in many laughs.
Our 5th and 6th grade students are heading to Astro Camp this week! The bus will be leaving from campus by 9:00 am on Wednesday the 20th. This will impact traffic flow in our parking lot significantly. If possible, parking at Dana will greatly ease any traffic congestion that morning. Thanks for your support in this! Look out for photos and stories of their memorable trip :)
Also, if your student was in 3rd-8th grade at DVIA last year, we have received their SBAC scores from the spring. However, a small percentage of our students' scores contain a typo (made across the entire state), so we are waiting for re-printed scores to arrive before we send reports home to everybody. Thanks for your patience! If you have questions, don't hesitate to e-mail me!

Last year we began featuring some homeschool projects and ideas in this section of the newsletter. We need families to volunteer by sending Michelle a 3-5 sentence blurb and if desired, a photo, featuring a field trip, a project, a collaborative effort with other families...you choose! You can find examples in the newsletter archives by going to davincik8.org==>Resources==>Newsletter Archives (look at the May 22, April 30, April 23, March 19 and February 26th editions from 2016-2017).
What's Cookin' in the Homeschool Kitchen?
Thank you for helping us celebrate your hard work and inspire others to share their learning!
Did You Know...
...there is a DVIA glossary available on the Parent Educator Resource website? Even if you've been around a while, you might be confused about which is the Innovation Station and which is the Collab Lab. :) Choose "DVIA 101" from the homepage "Resources" menu to go find out what all that DVIA lingo means!
Have a great week!
