Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal

Hello Families!

I want to first share and recognize the effects that the recent tragedy in Las Vegas could be having on you, your kiddos, our community, and our nation. An event like this is never something we are prepared to face. Our thoughts and hearts go out to those affected, and we know that for some of our families, this is affecting your family in a big way. If you feel that your family would benefit from support in working through this tragedy, please reach out to myself or Kaitlin. We also want you to know that while we never expect to experience this type of event on campus, we have emergency plans in place and our staff is highly prepared to keep our community safe if needed. We are keeping the Las Vegas community in our thoughts and hearts during this time of recovery.

On another note, I'd like to welcome a new face to our office staff team! While it was difficult to say goodbye to Dorothy, we are thrilled to welcome Bernadette Glenn to our team as a new Office Clerk! Bernadette is a founding DVIA parent who has an 8th grader with us and a sophomore at DVS. She knows our community well and we are so excited to have her join our team! Be sure to introduce yourself when you see her in the office! After a week or so of getting used to the flow of the front office, Bernadette will be up front on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays while Ebony will be up front on Tuesdays and Fridays as well as supporting classrooms as an academic coach and maintaining our health files.

You may also see a few more new adults on campus as we also have some additional academic coaches joining our team.

Enjoy your (short) week! I hope you have special plans for soaking in pumpkin everything during Fall Break (no school, no homeschool on October 5th and 6th).

From Our Dean of Students
Hello Families! I echo Michelle's sentiments above, and continue to send love and light to all affected by the senseless tragedy in Las Vegas. Our hearts are with the victims, their families and friends.

Our 7th and 8th grade students had a wonderful time at Catalina Camp! A huge Thank You to our staff members Sascha and Kene, and our parent volunteers Andrew and Gia, for taking time away from their work and families to make this trip happen!

We enjoyed our first Pizza and Spirit Day with your kiddos---the wild and crazy hair added a fun and wacky twist to the end of our week. We love when families participate in spirit days!

If you haven't already, please take a few moments to provide kind, helpful, and specific feedback around your child's enrichment experience so far! We are already planning next semester, and your feedback is helpful information for our planning! See the blurb below for that important survey link.

Also, Picture Day is coming up! We use our professional photographer, Stacee Lianna, which allows for amazing pictures of your kiddos worth purchasing (not to say I don't love looking back at my old school photos with a purple backdrop, haha!). Please mark your calendars for Thursday 10/19 and Friday 10/20. More info on how to participate in Picture Day will come soon!

Finally, I hope you all enjoy a much-deserved rest during Fall Break (no school) this TH/F, right before our first round of work journals are due next week ;)

Enjoy your week!
