Greetings, DVIA Families!
From Our Principal

Hello DVIA Families!

Historically, Kaitlin and I have included personal "blurbs" in each weekly newsletter to maintain connection with all of you digitally!

However, we are finding that our time is needing to be spent actively supporting students, families, and the DVIA staff in other ways, which has led to newsletters coming out less consistently than we'd like--our apologies! We've realized that having the bandwidth for both of us to create a blurb each week feels unsustainable this year and is keeping us from getting other important information out to you through the newsletter in a timely manner!

With that being said, Kaitlin and I will be less frequently adding blurbs to our weekly newsletter. We will continue connecting with you in other, more meaningful ways, such as morning pickup and afternoon drop off, Pastries/Popcorn with the Principal, etc. We are always available to chat more formally, as well!

Enjoy your week, and look forward to more consistent weekly newsletters in the future!

Hello Families!

I echo Michelle's sentiments above, and look forward to connecting with you through future, albeit more infrequent, newsletters!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's favorite costumes on Monday and Tuesday! Please make sure that student costumes are school appropriate, and that any Halloween candy stays at home :) Thank you!
What You Need to Know This Week

Print Making Class
In an effort to raise money to help families who lost their homes in the recent Northern California fires, The World of Girls enrichment class would like to invite DVIA students to attend a print making class on Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st from 3:30-4:30pm at the tables outside of Patrick's classroom.
Parents are welcome to participate or head into Patrick's classroom and enjoy his Pizza Day with Patrick workshop.
Come learn about printmaking, create your own design and print a few cards to take home!
A suggested donation of $5 per kid would be greatly appreciated. All money collected will be used to buy supplies and gift cards to be distributed by Girl Scout Troop 10132 and the Sonoma County YMCA to schools, kids and families that were affected by the fires.

Pizza and Spirit Day 10/30 and 10/31! Support DVIA by eating pizza and wearing your favorite costume! Please help your students choose costumes that feel safe for others and are school appropriate.
Pizza Day Volunteers Needed!
Sign up here to volunteer for our next Pizza Day lunch on the 30th and 31st! Costumes encouraged. :)

Did You Know...
...the Learning Goals listed on your child's work journal (AKA the Common Core State Standards) are explained on the Parent Educator Resource website? From the homepage, choose "Learning Goals" on the top menu, then choose the area you want to better understand and then your child's level. (If you're just getting started, choose your child's grade level, but go up or down from there to find where your child really is.)
Have a great week!
