Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Director

Hello Everyone!

I hope you enjoyed a safe Halloween and have done something amazing with the extra hour we gained today!

I would also like to congratulate you for successfully completing the toughest part of the school year! August through October are the months when educators (including home educators!) experience the most turbulence in their emotional journey supporting kiddos and their learning. Educators across the country start the year excited and ready to take on the challenge. Around September we experience the dance that includes surges of creativity and "we can do anything!" euphoria often coupled with an overwhelm of ideas and feelings of "what did I get myself into!?!?" Around late October, we feel like we've made a steady crawl up a large mountain.

So please take a moment to tell yourself "I did it!" Go back to resources you haven't used in a while, explore a homeschool collaborative group if you've been meaning to, arrange a field trip, or just re-evaluate your homeschool schedule. Take November and December by the horns! You've got this! :)

Thank you for all you do and enjoy your week!

A Message From Our Dean of Students

Hi Families!
We had such a great time seeing our students' creativity shine during our "creative costume" spirit days! These spirit days give our community an opportunity to be creative in new ways, and have a different kind of fun while on campus :)
Also, thank you to all of the families who donated to the Malala Clothing Drive! We filled over two cars full of gently used clothing! Thank you!
Finally, we look forward to seeing you at FAN's Family Movie Night on campus on Friday 11/13 for a viewing of Big Hero 6-more details to come soon!

Have a great week!
What you need to know this week:

Coming up soon! Mark your calendars

FIRST Lego League
Have you heard about FLL? Teams of 10 kids aged 9-14 work together to build lego robots on a thematic playing surface. DVIA has two teams and both are competing in upcoming tournaments:

Coach Derrick Boston's team (Team 16565, Rebel Builders) will compete on Sunday, Nov 15th at the Winward School. Match times are TBD.

See you there? More information about FLL can be found on their website.

Save the date! Family Movie Night
Fri, Nov 13 | 5 - 8 pm
Thanks to a donation by the Wollwage family, we've got a 12 foot outdoor screen and awesome sound system. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, buy a slice of pizza and some bake sale items, and enjoy watching Big Hero 6 with us! DVIA Movie Nights are fun for the whole family.

Have a great week!
