Wear your wackiest winter clothes and show your school spirit while enjoying yummy pizza.

Book Club
Thursday, Dec 15, and Friday, Dec 16
We're continuing Daniel Pink's A Whole New Mind. Last month, we discussed Part 1; this month, we'll read  chapters 4-6. Everyone is invited to join in! We chose this book as it will give you some ideas for inspiring right-brained thinking in your kiddo. The next two books club meetings will focus on three different strategies.

Save the Date!

Winter Break

Dec 19 through Jan 6
We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a restful time off from school! DVIA staff will return January 3rd-6th to plan 2nd semester.

Calling All Artists!
The LA County Science and Engineering Fair is looking for a student to design the cover artwork for the 2017 Science Fair printed program! If your child is interested in entering the contest, please see THIS FLYER for more information (including this year's theme) and make sure to submit your child's entry to Michelle by JanArt Supplies Clipartuary 13th, 2017. The artwork needs to be submitted by the school, not by the artist. Happy creating!
Curriculum Corner

Compassionate Corner

DVIA is supporting our families and staff in their compassionate communication journey by providing you with access to each of the EdNextGen webinars that Jason and Cecilia Hilkey of Happily Family hosted. Check out the amazing speakers listed below from this fall's conference! Stop by the front office or email us for login information. (Please note the password changes frequently.)

Did You Know...

The Learning Goals listed on your child's work journal (AKA the Common Core State Standards) are explained on the Parent Educator Website? From the homepage, choose "Learning Goals" on the top menu, then choose the area you want to better understand and then your child's level. (If you're just getting started choose your child's grade level, but go up or down from there to find where your child really is.)

Have a great week!
