Greetings DVIA Families!
A Few Words From Our Principal
We are so excited to see your family this week! The staff has been working hard to prepare projects, plan lessons, revise their thinking and once again welcome your kiddo(s) to another semester of learning and fun at DVIA! This past week we spent some time making our own project at Trash4Teaching, participated in Critical Friends Groups to give and receive feedback to our projects and other ideas, as well as met with all of the Da Vinci schools to discuss our philosophy, subject matter content and the big picture of how and why we do what we do.
We are truly looking forward to seeing you all soon! Thank you for being part of our family and enjoy your week!
A Message From Our Dean of Students
Welcome back! We are so glad to see you in what is already shaping up to be a wonderful 2016 :)
Our staff has been working incredibly hard this past week in creating projects and instructional plans to support your students' growth and ever-growing curiosity and love for learning! This past week, we also had the opportunity as an organization to view the extraordinary documentary Most Likely to Succeed. While we wish we were able to share this experience with all of you, there is a public viewing of the film coming up! If you'd like to attend, you can register here. Learn more about the film on its website.
Have a great week!
What you need to know this week:
Annual Giving Campaign--Double Your Impact
The Annual Giving Campaign has officially kicked off! Every family should have received an Annual Giving packet in the mail in the past few days. Please consider joining Da Vinci families and staff in pledging your support to Da Vinci Schools by joining our Annual Giving Campaign! Use the enclosed remittance envelope from your packet or make an online tax-deductible gift at:
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Chevron, Belkin, Northrop, and Kinecta Federal Credit Union, all donations to Da Vinci's Annual Giving Campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000. This matching challenge is only available for a limited time. Make your donation or pledge by March 31 and your gift will be doubled! All pledge payments must be received by June 1, 2016 to be eligible for the match.
Dollars raised through the Annual Giving Campaign benefit every K-12 student by providing hands-on curriculum for every age level, a $1,000 project/materials budget for every teacher, innovative educational technology, and the day-to-day operating expenses that are not funded by the state of California.
We are deeply grateful to those families who have already made a generous contribution -- we thank you!!
El Nino Is Here!
DVIA is many amazing things but rain-proof, we are not! Please know that our campus has a hard time with the rain! Dress your kids in warm clothes with layers and when rain is in the forecast, rain boots are recommended if possible! Also, please know that safety is our priority so if it is actively raining or too wet outside and we feel that slipping, tripping or falling is too likely, we will have students play indoors that day. And hey, fond memories of "rainy day schedule" and Heads Up 7 Up are part of the school experience!
Mark your calendar! Coming up soon:
