Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Principal

Hello Everyone!

I want to take a moment to highlight an aspect of our program that we are very proud of. Even during the toughest of financial times for schools, DVIA remained committed to having an art and then a makerspace program! While schools around the state were cutting back on their art programs, DVIA was finding ways to grow ours! Currently, in our 2-day program, students spend a semester taking art once a week with Mr. Mason (Mondays) and Cordula (Tuesdays) and a semester "making and tinkering" with Jim. Our Full-time Independent Study students also use this space, which we call the Innovation Station, for classes and family gatherings, like last week's Family Night. We are so fortunate to have such creative and dedicated professionals teaching our students. Thanks Mr. Mason, Jim and Cordula. And THANK YOU families for your generosity with the Annual Giving Campaign. Your donations ensure that this program and so many other aspects of our program continue to have an important place at DVIA.

Thank you for being part of our DVIA family and enjoy your week!

A Message From Our Dean of Students

Hi Families!
I hope you enjoyed a rainy Sunday--I definitely did! I want to remind you that while we love rainy days at DVIA, our campus sure doesn't. On a rainy day, please be sure to pack your student with rainboots, if possible, and other rainy day gear!
Also, we look forward to seeing you at PEC 3 next week! I have a feeling this will be our best PEC yet :) A huge thank you to everyone that is working hard already to make it a successful event!

Have a great week!

Take A Journey To Space!
Are your students interested in studying space? We have gathered a number of resources to satisfy every curiosity. Your Discovery TechBook account provides access to a wide assortment of primary source videos, images and documents related to space exploration and the space shuttle program. Brainpop also has a number of space-related offerings. You can expand your studies with a visit to the Journey to Space Exhibit at the California Science Center (which includes admission to the Space Shuttle Endeavor) and a viewing of Journey to Space 3-D. For TechBook or Brainpop login information, email Janette or Ethel.
