Greetings DVIA Families!

A Few Words From Our Director

Hello Everyone!

No amount of thanks are enough for all of the hard work so many of you dedicated to our Sharefest Family Work Day yesterday! Our families, alongside the team from Balfour Beatty Construction, The LIQUID Project lead by parent PeQue and many other volunteers came together for 11 hours on Saturday plus countless hours of preparation to revitalize the front of our school (making it drought tolerant too!) and tackle several other projects on campus. You donated time, sweat, equipment, food and love for your school. Thank you! A huge appreciation for DVIA parent, Gia, for taking a vision proposed by Rita's classes and making it achievable. Thank you to Rita and the Core 4 and 5 students for dreaming big! And thank you to Tyler for coordinating the efforts along the way. I have much appreciation as well for DVIA's CEO, Matt Wunder, and Wiseburn's Superintendent, Tom Johnstone, both of whom said "Go for it!"

A final shout out to the manager of this project, Aaron Lee! I'm taking a few extra lines to talk about someone none of you know or are likely to run into, but who dedicated at least 40 hours to this project as a volunteer. He drove here from Irvine countless times to make sure our vision materialized. He gave up precious time with his own family. He made phone calls, placed orders, drew up plans, negotiated donations, coordinated with 5 of us at once, and spent the day with us on Saturday. He works for Balfour Beatty and took on this project as a volunteer. Our school is so special that even people we don't even know give weeks of their time to support us! Thank you Aaron!

Our front yard went from this:

To this:

And now this!!!
And there's still more to be done! PeQue will be back to finish the mural and we will be reaching out for a bit more help to finish a few sections. Balfour Beatty will be contributing even more to finalize the project with some benches and covers for the planter boxes. Wow!

We have one final request in the final 5 weeks of school. Please remind your kiddos to stay off the young plants that are trying to take root. Thank you!

Have a great week!

Tyler's Two Cents

tyler two cents Families,

The Roving Reporters are back! Some of you may have heard that we are piloting a potential mobile app for DVIA this year. One of the features of the app allows "live streaming."

This year during the Talent Show, interviews by our Roving Reporters will stream LIVE to our DVIA School App. To follow the stream live, download the "School Info" App (instructions here). During the show, our MC's will notify you that an interview is going on and you will be able to open the app and view the interviews live!

The interviews will be posted on the DVIA Resource Site once the event is over. Just as a reminder, this year's Talent Show will take place from 5-7pm on Wednesday, May 13th. So download the app and come ready to watch our amazing kids display their talents!!

Have a great week!
