Greetings, DVIA Families!
A Few Words from Our Principal

Greetings Families!

On behalf of the entire DVIA staff, I would like to thank you for the privilege of working with your family and share with you why we are thankful for our school community.
We are thankful for this and so much more:
  • Thoughtful parents and inspiring students
  • All of the support that teachers get from parents and staff
  • The many friendly and supportive greetings I receive every single day- too many to count!
  • Committed, inspiring co-teachers (parents and staff)
  • The constant reassurance and positive energy spread throughout the campus
  • The creativity of the staff and students who are constantly teaching us new lessons
  • Supportive and inspiring colleagues
  • A community that encourages hands on learning in meaningful ways
  • An incredible community of educators (including parent educators!) helping me become the best version of myself
  • A loving community
  • Curious, passionate learners
  • A warm and supportive school environment
  • Our amazing parents who are so dedicated to their student's learning
  • A job that allows me to pursue my passions while engaging students in meaningful learning
  • Teachers and staff who continually make choices based on what's best for kids instead of what's convenient for adults
  • A community where I feel safe in taking risks and asking questions
  • A community where parents are our partners
  • The flexibility and communication that make teachers and parent educators such a great team
  • The amazing sense of humor our kids have
  • All that my kiddos teach me in the classroom
  • The wonderful community of families who always show so much love and support for us
Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family!

I am on maternity leave until we return from Winter Break. I can't wait to hear about the incredible learning and growth that's happening while I'm away!

What You Need to Know This Week!

Reminder: No Enrichment
As a reminder, enrichment fall session has ended. The Hybrid Program day ends at 3:15. Thank you.

Pickup Time Parking Will Be Busy!
With no enrichment classes until January, parking and the valet line at afternoon pickup time will be difficult. Please plan accordingly and try to park at Dana Middle School and walk over.

Reminder: Screenagers Screening
Tues Nov 29, 6:30pm
Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance. Screenagers addresses this pervasive parenting issue head-on by depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it. RUHS is hosting this free event for teens and parents. More information is available here. RSVP required.

Can you make a Gaga Ball Donation
Does your kiddo love Gaga Ball? So does most of the school! We go through a LOT of balls each year. Do you have any bouncy playground balls at home? Or can you donate one like this? The exact size, style, color or brand doesn't matter--it's just the inflatable, bouncy durable kind of ball. (Your kiddo can probably tell you if it's the right kind!) We would sincerely appreciate your donation! We also get low on soccer balls, basketballs, footballs and dodge balls.
Backpack Drive
Rita's 5th grade class is still collecting supplies for Rise High. If you have anything you would like to donate bring them to Rita's room this week:
* Backpacks * Pencils * Pens * Erasers * Pencil case
* Notebooks * Composition books * Binders * Math supplies * Water bottles * Lunch boxes * Tote bags
* Key chains * Art supplies
