From Our Principal
We have some exciting events coming up in the next month, so be sure to read below, sync your device to the Da Vinci Connect calendar, and get involved! Events include Exhibition, PEC 2, ice skating fundraisers (if your child hasn't gone, check it out! These events are organized by kids, for kids!) and a middle school dance (also organized by and for students!).
I want to share some important information and a change regarding kindergarten hours (Hybrid program only). As many of you know, we shifted our kindergarten hours this fall to reflect a shorter day for our youngest learners. We have also heard your feedback about the difficulty that change poses, particularly for working families, those who drive long distances to join us, and those who have siblings in other grade levels. We have decided to honor your feedback and change back to a full-day kindergarten program starting when we return from winter break. Yes kindergarten families--you didn't misread. Beginning January 14th, kindergarten students are welcome to stay until 3:15. For those of you who have shared that your child has benefited from a shortened day, you are welcome to continue picking your child up earlier--just coordinate with Darlene or Kelly Ann regarding the best possible times. For those intending to stay the entire day, Kelly Ann and Darlene are excited to share that kindergarten is putting on a show! In the afternoons, students will be singing, dancing, and acting their way through the semester. At the end of the school year, we will invite the Da Vinci community to come and watch their performance on stage!
Lastly, I want to give a huge thank you to all of the FAN parents who supported our staff during our October and November Professional Development Days by providing a delicious snack bar in October and a fall harvest lunch last Friday. A particular thank you to Lacey and Amy for organizing! I want to also share what our staff accomplished on that day. We spent the day analyzing our "Multi-Tier Systems of Support," which is fancy eduspeak for the various and systematic ways we provide support to all students using universal, targeted and intensive strategies. We examined academics and behavior including the data we use to determine those supports. You can see evidence of some of our work that focused on supporting students' executive functioning skills hanging in the Collab Lab! Reaching consensus and representing all the ways we support students individually on one document took a lot of brain work, so thank you for brightening our day with a delicious and healthy feast! It was much, much appreciated!
Enjoy your week!

Drop off candy and any other items you wish to donate in the bin in the front office.

Da Vinci Connect Cares Update
DV Connect Cares and the Kindness Movement have been in full effect over the last few weeks! We walked in the Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk to support our friends with special needs on Sunday, October 28, and visited the seniors at the Anderson
Park Senior Center on Monday, October 29! The seniors were so very happy to see all of us in our Halloween costumes! We even sang them a sweet song, and they asked if we could come back for a return visit over the winter holidays!
The Kindness Movement was launched with great success at our school during the Fall Festival! Two Kindness Walls were set up (one right next to the sand box and the other across the quad next to the Core 4 and above classrooms) for friends to write notes to their friends at school who have shown kindness! Please keep those positive notes coming, and be on the look-out for Kindness Rocks placed around campus!
Also, During the course of the school year, our counselor, Kené will be visiting morning meetings to provide students with tips on successful habits using Steven Covey's The Leader in Me curriculum. Students have learned the importance of building a foundation by having strong principles and the value of carrying your own weather by shifting their mindset.
Thank you to everyone who participated, and please stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities for the Kindness Movement and DV Connect Cares coming soon!
